This Christmas, Love Your Neighbour is launching a new national initiative called Love Christmas to help us all spread the power of practical love, hope and kindness to people struggling with Covid and other social challenges this winter.
By mobilising an army of local volunteers to sponsor and deliver a million Christmas Boxes to the most vulnerable and isolated, Love Christmas will help us all to play our part in bringing new joy, inspiration and connectedness to people in communities across the UK. For many, the Love Christmas Box will be their only Christmas gift this year.
The Love Christmas Christmas Boxes go beyond the emergency food support Love Your Neighbour is already offering and include additional Christmas gifts and treats such as a chocolates and mince pies alongside specific support depending on the recipient’s needs. For example, a box for a homeless person might include warm socks and gloves, while a family box might include a colouring-in book and toys for young children. They envisage different packages for vulnerable families, refugees, families of prisoners and the elderly amongst others. Each box will be tailored according to the local needs and situation and will include a Christmas card from the local church to say we are here for you. The costs are projected at approximately £7.50 for a single pack, £10 for a couple pack, and £15 for a family pack.
