Richard Springer is laying down his role as Dean of Cultural Diversity for Stepney Area from September 2021.
Richard has held the role for four and a half years, bringing wisdom and challenge to the Stepney Area around matters of racial justice. He has supported clergy and lay people who are Black/People of Colour in their ministries, and has advised first Bishop Adrian, and now Bishop Joanne, on matters of policy and practice.
Bishop Joanne thanks Richard for his work in Stepney Area and for his contribution to the newly formed Racial Justice Priority Group, which is seeking to shape the Diocese’s commitment to racial justice as part of the 2030 Vision.
There will be time for consultation in Stepney Area and more widely about this role and how it can best be shaped, resourced, and supported for the future.
