I am sad to have to pass on the news of the death  of Bishop Karowei Dorgu on Friday 8th September. Please see attached a letter from the Bishop of Southwark to the clergy of his Diocese.

Prior to his consecration, Karowei spent the entirety of his ordained ministry serving in Stepney Episcopal Area and in Islington Deanery as Vicar of St John’s Upper Holloway.

Please remember Karowei’s wife, Mosun, their son, Timi, and Karowei’s twin sister, Collette in your prayers. Timi, who worships at St Paul’s Shadwell is due to be married next Saturday at Christchurch, Spitalfields. Please also pray for the people of St John’s Upper Holloway and for Karowei’s friends and colleagues in Woolwich Episcopal Area and the Diocese of Southwark.

I loved seeing Karowei at national events. He would greet me with a cheery wave, a broad smile, and a cry of “Sister!”. He always asked after Stepney Area, which he obviously dearly loved and still prayed for.

Rest in peace, and rise in glory, my brother in Christ.
